Who Can Register
Maple Leaf Soccer Club is open to those 18 years and older, regardless of skill
level and experience. You can either register as an individual player and be
placed on a squad, or you and your friends can register your existing team
(minimum of 15 players per team). Our goal is to make the game of soccer
accessible to anyone wishing to play.
Schedules
The 2008 season will start mid-May and run until the end of September 2008. There will be no games scheduled on long weekends in the
summer (including Canada Day weekend). The majority of regular season games will be played on Saturday
mornings/afternoons at Wexford Hydro Fields (Eglinton & Pharmacy). Note
that there may be make-up/exhibition/tournament games scheduled on Sundays at fields to be determined
in Markham. All games will take place between 9 a.m. and
6 p.m. Some playoff games in September may be played on Sunday
mornings/afternoons at fields to be determined in Markham.
Cost of Registration
The cost of registration for the 2008 season is as follows. Teams or players
who wish to supply their own uniforms or use their uniforms from previous
seasons will be required to pay $150.00/player. Teams or players who wish for
the league to provide them with uniforms for the upcoming season will be
required to pay $175.00/player. Uniforms provided by the league include jersey,
socks and shorts.
Team Notes
For the 2008
outdoor season, teams will be fined $100 for their 1st defaulted game
as a result of not being able to field 7 players by the start of the game, and
$150 for their 2nd defaulted match. As a result, registered teams will be
required to post a $250 bond which will be due before or on May 1, 2008. As
well, fine payments for players incurring cards will automatically be subtracted
from the team bond. Should any team not have enough funds in their team bond to
cover the fine for a defaulted game or player fines, the team captain will be
required to provide the league with the amount to cover the difference before
the next game. Cash for any funds remaining in the team bond will be issued to
the TEAM CAPTAIN at the end of the 2008 season.
Team deposits
are NON-REFUNDABLE and each team must ensure that they have a minimum of 15
players. Any group that registers a team and fails to meet the 15 player minimum
will lose their deposit. Should the group of individuals still wish to
play, the league will add players to their team at its discretion.
Random Notes
Teams will have until June 21, 2008 to make additions/substitutions to their
roster. New players will need to fill in registration forms and provide photo
IDs prior to playing. After June 21, only players with photos on the team game
sheet will be permitted to play. If teams are found with unregistered players
on the field, your team be assessed a loss for the game and be
fined $50 - no
exceptions. Referees will be checking rosters before each game.
Please make sure that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your games and are
ready to play at the scheduled game times. Once each team has 7 players suited
up on the field, the game will commence. As an example, if teams are not ready
to play and start the game 8 minutes late, the referees will be taking off 4
minutes from each half.
Referees will wait a maximum of 10 minutes for teams to suit up 7 players. If
there are not 7 players on the field at 10 minutes, the game will be defaulted.
After the game has been called, players from each team are free to play a
friendly exhibition match, however, referees will not call the game, and
the league will not be responsible for any misconduct that occurs on the field.
